Q:A friend of mine moved to California about 2 months before I did. We started talking about his unfinished motorcycle that he had at a mechanics place in Florida. Anyways he said the mechanic wasn't doing anything with it and it was just sitting there and he doesn't know what to do cause he's all the way in Cali, so I said, "hey you get the bike to my house and I'll put it in my moving truck when I move to Cali in a week... We agreed he would pay $400 for the shipment. A few weeks after I moved he tells us he's going to the strip club, do we wanna join? We were pretty eh about it but then he says, "I'll give you some of the money I owe you."So we get there and he gives us $100 and we literally watch him spend the other 300 that he owes us on strippers. We let it go, he says he'll pay us back by the end of the week... it's been almost 3 months. Earlier that night he was telling us about how well he does at his job and how good he's doing, so we didn't worry, but here we are 3 months later and we can't get a hold of him and his hunk of shit bike is still in our yard... What should I do? Extremely frustrated
Jack's Answer:
Everyone has a friend like this. Usually not for long. You have to decide if he is a good enough friend to put up with this shit. If not, then you sell his bike in pieces and forget about the whole deal. He sounds like he is not that great of a friend anyway. If you decide that he is a good friend then I would confront him. Remind him that you had an arrangement. If he still doesn't pay you, then I would just give the bike to him. Realize what kind of person he is and never loan him money or your services again. This goes for all friends. Never mix money, business or sex if you want to stay friends.

Jill's Answer:
I wonder why he wanted it moved to Cali if he isn't planning on picking it up.  Can you sell it for parts? lien it?  insure it and then report it stolen?  And you can't get a hold of the guy?  I would try selling it to recoup the moving expenses.  It's got to be worth at least $300 for parts or scrap metal or something.  Maybe small claims court?

Q. And why did we attack Libya and NOT help Tibet when they needed it?! Steph
Jack's Answer:
We explained Libya in a earlier question. The conflict between Tibet and China has been ongoing for over half a century now. The United States and the international community have expressed their discontent about the situation, but have not taken any aggressive action towards China. The fact is, the U.S. does a ton of business with China. The U.S. has no intensions of causing friction in the relationship with China. The U.S. relies on China more than China relies on us in trade. It is not worth the risk of losing their trade agreement and billions of dollars over Tibet. Unfortunately, Tibet has no real value to the U.S.. So it really comes down to business, and turning a blind eye to Tibet is good business
Jill's Answer:
It's all about what the government stands to gain. I don't think they truly have good intentions with any choice they make

Q:Why and how did we attack Libya without going to Congress first? By Concerned American
Jack's Answer:
Ever since World War II the United States has taken the roll of policing the world. Sometimes the U.S. goes in legally and other times not so much. Libya has always been a thorn in the side of the U.S.. Tensions between the U.S. and Libya were at its peak when Pan Am flight 101 was blown up over Scotland. Muammar Gaddafi by many was believed to be behind this bombing. Libya has also been known to harbor terrorist. Because of this, the recent rebellion to oust Gaddafi has been supported by the United States and other members of the United Nations. The U.S. has other interest in the region like oil and a Muslim nation becoming democratic. That's the why, now the how. Obama took his time before he intervened with the rebel alliance. It was not just the U.S. but several other nations. The White House weighed its options and decided to play a support roll and not use U.S. soldiers on the ground. This has given way to letting other nations like France to take the lead roll in the operation. Obama does not need to get Congresses approval because we never declared war on Liba
Jill's Answer:
Well, according to President Obama, he couldn’t ask Congress to go to war because doing so would have given Muammar Qadhafi time to slaughter Libyans in Benghazi. White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters on Thursday that Obama "believes that consultations with Congress are important" and that "he has done that" before he gave the order to attack Libya last week. In my opinion, consultations are not permission, and it seems he's gotten around the system. According the U.S. Constitution, congressional approval is required for the declaration of war. President Obama is downplaying the attacks as humanitarian, and is a limited military operation as part of the coalition. Hmm....

Q:I am completely weirded out at something that just happened and not sure how to handle the situation I've been put in. My dad just accidentally text me that he can't wait to have me tonight, and when I text back what the hell? he said, oh sorry, that was meant for your mother. As gross as that is, my mother doesn't have a text plan on her cell phone. She doesn't text. I'm disgusted and disturbed, and I don't know if I tell my mom or keep it inside? It must mean he's cheating on her, right? Jamie 21
Jack's Answer:
Don't jump to conclusions. You don't want to ruin your parent's marriage without getting some facts. I would confront your dad and ask him the truth. Find out who the text was for and why he would be writing that. If he admits to cheating I would give him two options. Either he tells her or you will. Either way I think your mother deserves to know the truth. Then she can decide what she wants to do
Jill's Answer:
Wow, that's a heavy situation to be put in. I think if it was me, I first would ask my dad privately and directly if he was seeing someone else, simply because you know your mother doesn't text. However, be prepared to get an answer you may not like and the fact that you now will have to deal with the consequences of the response. It will bring up more moral questions in your life than the one you are dealing with. Perhaps it would be best to just tell your father (instead of questioning him and having to hear the truth, or his lie) that you trust he will continue to make good decisions for the family as he always has. If nothing else it might guilt him into thinking about the consequences of his actions, not just to his wife, but also towards you. A very awkward situation, but I have a feeling in this technological age that you aren't alone.

Q: Can you help with pool balancing issues?
Jack's Answer:
This is a difficult issue to let you know what to do because the balancing will change constantly. Your best bet is to hire someone that knows what they are doing. If that's not an option then go to your local pool supply store. They will have reading material for you to learn how to treat your pool. Unfortunately there is too much information for me to write here

Jill's Answer:
Hopefully, yes I can.  We are dealing with several issues of proper levels of pH, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness.  Test these levels with a test kit, and then use an equation for the saturation index,
also called the Langelier Index, this chemical equation or formula is used to diagnose the water balance in pools.  The formula is "SI = pH + TF + CF + AF - 12.1." To calculate the Saturation Index, test the water for pH, temperature, calcium hardness, and total alkalinity.  Refer to a chart for assigned values for your temperature, hardness, and alkalinity readings then add these to your pH value.  Subtract 12.1, which is the constant value assigned to Total Dissolved Solids and a resultant number will be produced.  A result between -0.3 and +0.5 is said to indicate balanced water.  Results outside of these parameters require adjustment to one or more chemical components to achieve balance.  If this is too complex (let's face it, we have other things to do), call a pool guy, shouldn't be too much money.
